Mazabuka road crash victims’ condition improves

SURVIVORS of last week’s road traffic accident in Mazabuka which left 12 passengers dead are in a stable condition and responding well to treatment, University Teaching Hospital (UTH) spokesperson Mwenya Mulenga has said.
Mr Mulenga said in an interview that, all the 17 patients were assessed and three have since been discharged bringing the number of admitted patients to 14.
He added that the patients were out of danger but could not tell when they would be discharged.
“I can confirm that the patients are responding well and that their conditions are stable, we are doing everything within our means to see to it that the victims get better treatment and recover in the quickest time possible.” Mr Mulenga said.
UTH received 23 survivors’ six of whom were discharged after they were checked by doctors.
The victims escaped death when a Marcopolo bus they were travelling in collided head on with a South African bound freight Liner truck in the early hours of Friday.
The accident occurred in Kaleya Township, about 15 kilometres south of the district on the Mazauka -Lusaka Road.
