WITH an estimated US$500 million annual loss due to illegalities in Zambia’s timber industry, the Government has suspended the issuance of export permits to conduct a stock of wood availability and countercheck exports.
Green Economy and Environment Minister Collins Nzovu announced the measure which he says has been triggered by an overwhelming request for the timber export permits. Mr Nzovu announced this in Livingstone yesterday when he visited Maluba Gardens which grows exotic and indigenous plants.
