East tobacco farmers project low production

TOBACCO farmers in Eastern Province have projected a low production this year due to the poor rainfall pattern the area is experiencing in this farming season.
Eastern Fodia Association of Zambia (EFAZ) president Franklyn Mwale said in an interview that the poor rainfall being experienced had forced some farmers to plant tobacco twice.
Mr Mwale said some farmers experienced high cost of production for buying and planting the tobacco twice.
