Unza don calls for initiative to tackle spread of livestock diseases

THE Government should come up with a tangible program aimed at controlling the spread of livestock infectious diseases to reduce morbidity and mortality, a livestock sector review has recommended.
According to a report authored by University of Zambia (UNZA) lecturer, Martine Simuunza, which was commissioned by the Food Agriculture Organisation (FAO), the Government should put in place livestock programmes that were multi-sectoral in formulation and implementation with measurable indicators of progress being made with definite timelines.
