THE Mid-Year Coordination Meeting (MYCM) was conceptualised in 2017 as the principal forum for the African Union (AU) and Regional Economic Communities (RECs) to align their work.
The MYCM was also meant for the AU and RECs to coordinate the implementation of the continental integration agenda, replacing the June/July summits.
“It is a meeting between the bureau of the AU Assembly and Regional Economic Communities, with the participation of the chairpersons of RECs, the AU Commission and Regional Mechanisms,” according to the AU website.
The first MYCM was held in July 2019 in Niamey, Niger.
