ZAMBIA is poised to transform into a regional transport hub following construction of the Livingstone-Chingola cape gauge railway, a project expected to create 1,000 employment opportunities for the local people.
The project valued at €978 million, which is also expected to provide capacity building for Zambia Railways Limited (ZRL) employees, is undertaken by the Turkish firm, Yapi Merkezi and Yapiray on behalf of the Zambian Government.
