By CHATULA KANGALI –
THE Emeralds and Semi-Precious Stones Mining Association of Zambia (ESMAZ) is concerned over the continued encroachment of emeralds licenced areas in Lufwanyama.
ESMAZ general secretary Shadreck Mwape said in an interview that farmers and property developers had continued encroaching the licence area.
Mr Mwape said the law provided for the mine licenced area to be protected from other activities.
He called for the full implementation of the Statutory Instrument (SI) number 32 of 1972 to help protect emerald licensed areas in the district from encroachment.
