FAO, Fisheries ministry launch vet training

THE Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) in collaboration with the Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock has launched an In-Service Applied Epidemiology Training (ISAVET) programme to enhance the capacity of veterinary services in dis­ease surveillance.
This is being conducted through the USAID-fund­ed Global Health Security program in Mazabuka.
FOA country representa­tive Suze-Percy Filippini said the ISAVET program in Zambia targets the broad goal of improving the country’s capacity for outbreak investigation and skills to detect, prevent and respond to critical health threats including antimicrobial resistance.
