• JOURNALISTS checking on Luanshya Copper Mines (CLM)’s 28 shaft infrastructure after the announcement of its reopening.

LUANSHYA Copper Mines (CLM) has started the process of reopening 28 Shaft at a cost of US$500 million following its closure 20 years ago.
The reopening of the shaft is expected to create more than 3,000 jobs for the people of Luanshya and supplement Government’s aspiration of achieving the three million tonnes of copper production per annum.
CLM chief executive officer Wang Jingjun said the company was currently conducting a feasibility study for dewatering the shaft which would cost $100 million.
