ECOBANK, a leading pan-African banking group, and the African Guarantee Fund (AGF) have signed a $200 million risk sharing agreement for the benefit of Small and Medium Enterprises ( SMEs).
This is the largest guarantee facility in sub-Saharan Africa.
Ecobank Group chief executive officer Jeremy Awori said the agreement would benefit SMEs from across 27 Africa markets where the bank operates that include Zambia.
Mr Awori explained that the agreement was aimed at catalyzing economic growth and supporting entrepreneurial ventures, including women-owned SMEs on the continent.
