THE Government has implored the Independent Broadcasting Authority (IBA) board to freely issue out radio broadcasting licences to applicants that meet the licensing criteria, without consideration of political or other affiliation.
Information and Media Minister Cornelius Mweetwa said this was in line with the Government’s expansion of the country’s democratic space where media freedoms and public opinion were respected.
Mr Mweetwa, who is also Chief Government spokesperson, was speaking in Lusaka yesterday when the IBA board called on him.
