THE health department in Kafue District has expressed concern with a religious community of Mungu Ward which is refusing to seek medical services. This is happening even with the surge in cholera cases in the area.
And Ministry of Health director for public health Lloyd Mulenga has warned churches, communities and members of the public that stopping cholera patients from seeking medical care was punishable by law.
In an interview, Kafue District public health director Mwewa Mwaba disclosed that her department had continued to face challenges with a named religious group concerning the adherence and access to treatment of cholera when they were unwell.
