THE Government has flagged off three baggage scanners worth €210,000 for one stop border posts to streamline customs clearance processes and facilitate the smooth flow of legitimate trade.
Commerce, Trade and Industry Permanent Secretary – Trade, Lillian Bwalya said the scanners to be deployed at Mwami, Chirundu and Nakonde border posts were meant to facilitate clearance of passengers and small-scale cross border traders.
The scanners have been procured for the Zambia Revenue Authority (ZRA) under the Zambia Border Posts Upgrade Project (ZBPUP) with the support from the European Union (EU) under the €48 million 11 EDF Trade Facilitation Programme.
