THE takeover of the Mopani Copper Mines (MCM) by Delta Mining Limited (Delta) a subsidiary of International Resources Holdings Limited did not require National Assembly approval because the company was not a parastatal or a company that the Government had equity.
Mr Kabesha said in a statement issued in Lusaka yesterday, in response to political discourse by some known pundits arguing that the transaction violated Article 210 of the Republican Constitution as there had been no National Assembly approval signified by a vote of at least two-thirds of the members of Parliament.
