Kalungwishi power project on horizon

ZESCO Limited will embark on a project of constructing a 244 megawatts (mw) Kalungwishi hydropower scheme on the Kalungwishi River in Luapula and Northern provinces.
The project involves the construction of 151 mw hydropower plant at Kundabwika Falls, 93 mw hydropower plant at Kabweluma Falls and associated 330 kilovolts (kv) evacuation power line.
Zesco spokesperson Matongo Maumbi said in an interview the project would start in earnest once the final report of the Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA) approved by the Zambia Environment Management Authority (ZEMA) was released.
