Zesco goes solar

ZESCO will set up a 100 Mega Watt (MW) solar plant in Chisamba as part of the short and long term measures being put in place by the Government to mitigate the current power shortage worsened by the drought.
Energy Minister Peter Kapala announced the development during a Press briefing in Lusaka yesterday.
He said the development of the solar energy plant was scheduled to be completed by December this year.
Other short term measures were the importation of power which was currently at 188MW as well as Zesco clawing back power from export contracts.
