THE Burundian government yesterday delivered 5,000 tonnes of food to Zambia as part of the help to mitigate the impact of drought.
Vice-President W.K Mutale-Nalumango said the donation which included 504 tonnes of maize, 210 tonnes of rice and 286 tonnes of beans was a significant contribution to the much-needed relief to the communities severely affected by the ongoing drought in Zambia.
Speaking when she received the donation presented by Burundi ambassador to Zambia Evelyne Butoyi yesterday, Ms Mutale-Nalumango said the generosity demonstrated through the donation of food was a beacon of hope and exemplified the spirit of solidarity and compassion.
