Zambia faces 20,000 tonnes wheat deficit – MAZ

THE Millers Association of Zambia (MAZ) says the country is currently facing a wheat deficit of more than 200,000 tonnes.
MAZ president Andrew Chintala said the shortage had prompted stakeholders and the Government to grant a permit for wheat imports.
Mr Chintala explained that last year’s drought and electricity load shedding led to a low wheat production of 240,000 tonnes.
