A NINETEEN-YEAR-OLD girl of Shitambuli Village in Chief Sokontwe’s area in Milenge District in Luapula Province has shocked her grandmother after she revealed that her nephew impregnated her.
The girl, Barbara Mupeta is four months pregnant and is alleged to have been having an incestuous relationship with her nephew, 20-year-old Maxwell Chisala who lives in the same house as her.
Luapula Province Police Commissioner Malcolm Mulenga said the girl lives with her grandmother Judith Mwewa, 56, who is Chisala’s great grandmother.
Mr Mulenga said the two are alleged to have committed incest on many occasions between December 26, and December 30, last year.
The girl’s grandmother reported the matter to police last week.
“The two were initially detained in Milenge but were moved to Samfya yesterday and will appear in court soon,” he said.
And Mr Mulenga said a fisherman of Samfya District died after he was attacked by a crocodile.
Tembe Mwewa, 27, of Lyafye Village in Chief Mulongwe’s area in Samfya was attacked and killed by a crocodile on Lake Bangweulu.
Mr Mulenga said the incident happened between Thursday 18:00 hours and Friday 07:00 hours.
Mr Mulenga said Chiftainess Mulongwe of Mbabala Island told police that Mr Mwewa was attacked when he went fishing.
He said what remained of his body had since been buried.
