FINANCIAL expert Trevor Hambayi says failure by some companies to pay tax despite filing in tax returns will impact economic growth as it worked against Zambia’s move to enhance domestic revenue mobilisation to finance national priorities.
The 2024 Auditor General’s report has revealed that companies filed tax returns in amounts totaling K4.4 billion in respect of various taxes with the Zambia Revenue Authority (ZRA), however, as at 31st August 2025, the liabilities that accrued from the filed returns had not been settled.
Mr Hambayi said in an interview that the development would impact Zambia’s ability to improve fiscal stability because it would reduce domestic revenue mobilisation.
