MPOROKOSO Central Member of Parliament Nevelyn Wilombe and Mporokoso District Commissioner (DC) Jennifer Musonda have differed over how K300,000 released by Government for township roads rehabilitation was used.
Professor Wilombe, who said Mporokoso was among the dirtiest districts in the country, claimed the funds allocated through the DC’s office had been misapplied.
He said the district was covered in tall grass and litter.
“The township roads have remained in a bad state despite Government releasing close to K300,000 through the District Commissioner’s office,” he said.
Prof Wilombe, who is also Education Deputy Minister, accused Ms Musonda of sidelining the district development coordinating committee for the past two years.
Ms Musonda, when contacted for a comment, insisted that the K300,000 was used for its intended purpose of township road rehabilitation.
However, Prof Wilombe asked how the money was spent since most of the developmental projects in the district were implemented using the Constituency Developments Fund.
He challenged Ms Musonda to account for the money which her office received.
