FOUR men armed with pistols have stolen K72,000 from a Samfya business executive’s house.
The four men, wearing masks and black overalls and also armed with a crowbar and a round bar, attacked the business executive and his wife at their home in Katakwa Village on Samfya-Musaila Road in Chief Kasoma Bangweulu’s area on Saturday and stole K72,000.
Lupaula Province police commissioner Malcolm Mulenga said in an interview yesterday that the incident happened around 19:00 hours.
Mr Mulenga said the business executive Mushinge Kabaso, 39, and his wife were at home when the robbers forced open the kitchen door and got into the house.
He said the robbers fired five times in the air while inside the house and beat Mr Kabaso and his wife who sustained injuries.
They then took K72,600 cash and bolted.
Mr Kabaso rushed to Samfya Police Station and reported the matter.
“When the police got to the scene, they recovered two live and empty cartridges of nine millimetres,” Mr Mulenga said.
No arrests have been made.
Mr Mulenga said business executives in Samfya should not keep money in their houses because that was a security risk.
He said the district had banks in which huge amounts of money could be deposited.
On February 24, this year, three robbers attacked another house belonging to a business executive in Mwamfuli Village in Chief Kasoma Bangweulu’s area in Samfya and stole K52,000 cash.
