Police-cap1By CHILA NAMAIKO –
A GIRL in Choma, who was allegedly defiled by three men and left unconscious, says she is able to identify the suspects who have brought misery upon her life.
The 15-year-old girl of Kabanana Township, who is a Grade Seven pupil at a local basic school, was allegedly defiled by three unknown men on Friday last week around 18:00 hours.
She is currently admitted to Choma General Hospital, where she is receiving treatment.
Narrating the ordeal to journalists at her bedside yesterday, the girl said she was returning from plaiting her friend’s hair within Kabanana Township when she met the three men.
She said she was on the way to her parent’s house and met the three on a small path.
The girl said one of the men who was seemingly drunk forcibly grabbed her and dragged her to a nearby house where he tied her with a rope and covered her mouth.
“After this man grabbed me, he took me to a house where he tied me and then he called his two friends who were outside that house and they started defiling me,” she said.
She said the men took turns to defile her and was left unconscious while her private parts were bleeding.
The girl called for justice to prevail and vowed that she would help the police identify both the suspects and the house where she was defiled from.
“I am able to identify the house including one of the men who defiled me because he looked to be older than others and has some dreadlocks, I can recognise him,” she said.
In a separate interview, provincial deputy police commissioner Alfred Nawa said the search for the suspects had intensified.
Mr Nawa said the police would not rest until the three were brought to justice.
“The investigations are going well, although we haven’t made any arrest. Our hope is that when the girl recovers, she can also help us by identifying the suspects,” he said.
