SIMBEYEBy KAIKO NAMUSA-
POLICE are close to arresting Jack Chipokola for allegedly assaulting former Zambia Army Commander General Nobby Simbeye’s daughter, Niza, who is nursing severe injuries at CFB Medical Care in Lusaka.
Niza is today expected to undergo a CT-Scan to determine the extent of injuries suffered to the head among others.
Police acting spokesperson, Rae Hamoonga said his officers are actively pursuing the assault case and is expected to issue a comprehensive statement today.
“We are actively investigating this matter and I will issue an update today,” Mr Hamoonga said in an interview yesterday.
Meanwhile Niza is today expected to undergo a CT-Scan to determine the extent of head injury sustained when she was assaulted.
Her sister Sachi said in an interview yesterday that Niza was still experiencing severe pain on the eye and head.
Niza sustained a deep cut beneath her left eye as well as a swollen face after the beating at the weekend.
“She is complaining of pain to the head and her eye is not well. She would have been discharged but she is scheduled to undergo a CT-Scan today. She still feels bad about the incidence and wants justice to be done. This is not the first time he has done this to her,” she said.
Niza, 25, was assaulted by her boyfriend on Saturday, after the two, arrived home from a wedding reception, in the company of a family friend.
Niza narrated to the Sunday Times after the incident that Chipokola got annoyed with her because she was talking to other people at the wedding reception.
