By SHAMAOMA MUSONDA –
MAHOGANY Air Charters has agreed a reduced airfare for football fans flying between Lusaka and Ndola to watch Zesco United play Ghanaian side, Medeama in the CAF Confederation Cup return leg tomorrow.
Zesco lost the first leg to Medeama 2-0 and need three unanswered goals to progress to the next stage.
Zambia Sports Fans Association (ZASOFA) chairperson, Peter Makembo said in Lusaka yesterday that Mahogany Air Charters were willing to fly as many fans as possible to Ndola to give support to Zesco.
Mahogany marketing manager, Joanna Mungaila said her company was offering a return fare of K1,160 which was inclusive of airport taxes.
“The airline is offering a promotional fare of K1,160 return from Lusaka to Ndola and is inclusive of airport taxes. One-way fare from Lusaka to Ndola is K580,” Mungaila said.
She said Mahogany had two 30-seater Embraeyer planes that fly only 45 minutes between Lusaka and Ndola.
The departure time from Lusaka will be 07:30 and arrive in Ndola at 08:15 with the return trip starting off at 19:15 hours.
Makembo expressed delight at the deal saying this would allow many fans to cheer Zesco when they would be trying to overcome the first leg deficit.
“We shall travel in huge numbers and support Zesco to make the next stage. Nkana showed it can be done when after losing 2-0 in Swaziland came and obliterated that score, so we expect the same of Zesco United,” he said.
He also wished Nkana well in Egypt when they take on Zamalek tomorrow in the CAF Champions League.
