ZAWA arrests 3 in Mpika

THE Zambia Wildlife Authority (ZAWA) has apprehended three suspects in Mpika for being in possession of ivory and leopard skin.
Diwelo Wile, 42 and Charles Musonda, 39 of Nakalengule Village were arrested on March 25, while Frederick Chilufya, 32, of Chobela Village was arrested the following day.
ZAWA communications and public relations officer Readith Muliyunda said Chilufya was found with 3.5kilogrammes of ivory, while Wile and Musonda were found with Leopard skin.
Officers in the area received information from members of the public who saw the suspects carrying wildlife products.
“After receiving information that the named persons had in their possession some wildlife products, ZAWA officers tracked them and upon a search, found them with the said products,” she said.
