Third, churches and their organisations must be considered as partners with government in poverty alleviation and care giving for the vulnerable.

You will be shocked to learn about how many orphans and sick are under the care of the church.

The church is also involved in education and we all know how expensive education can be. For such services like orphanages, schools, hospitals, churches may need taxes to be relaxed on their operations.

Fourth, exempting the church from paying some of these taxes is another way of translating into practice the declaration of Zambia as a Christian nation.

Help the church evangelise this country to make it a better place to live in. As a matter of fact, this is the year of Jubilee for Zambia, so find a way of blessing the church.

Therefore, while I do acknowledge the graciousness of the government to the church in other areas, I strongly appeal to the Minister of Finance, Alexander Chikwanda to revisit Statutory Instrument (SI) no. 103 of 2013 for the sake of the Church.

Rev. WILLIE NYENDWA,

NDOLA
