THE Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) in Kitwe has arrested a man for impersonating an ACC officer.

Thomas Phiri, of Plot Number 4092 Maina Soko Road in Kalulushi has since been charged with two counts of impersonating an ACC officer.

It is alleged that on March 15, this year in Kitwe, Phiri falsely presented himself to be a person employed as an investigations officer in the ACC and assumed to have had the power to receive and investigate allegations of corruption from the public.

ACC corporate affairs officer Jonathan Siame said Phiri received a complaint from Andrew Njelekwa, a landlord of Plot Number 953B in Kitwe’s Mukuba Natwange and did sign an eviction notice for Clement Mwansa.

Phiri is, in the second count, alleged to have, on March 30, 2014 in Kalulushi, falsely presented himself as a person employed as an investigations officer in ACC .

He assumed to have had the power to investigate allegations of corruption and received a
complaint from Dr Vuttah Geoffrey a veterinary doctor in the Department of Veterinary, a transaction which concerned the ACC.

Phiri, who appeared in court on Thursday, has since pleaded not guilty to both charges and has since been released on bail.
