Beautifully Healthy LogoHow are my dear readers doing today? I hope you are well as I am, and this week I have compiled you a list of beauty and fashion hacks.
Just tips on habits and tricks to help you achieve that day-to-day glamour, especially on those days when you are feeling less than fabulous.
Trust me that everyone, even the celebrities with 24/7 access to a stylist and beautician, have their down days.
It’s also a list of habits that you need to employ to ensure that not only are you looking good but that you are also staying healthy.
Always clean your make-up tools because after a couple of uses, they become breeding places for excess bacteria which causes acne, breakouts, eczema and other terrible conditions.
Here is how to clean your make up brushes and sponges atleast once a week, you can use your everyday hair shampoo or conditioner.
Rinse bristles under warm water then fill a bowl with water, adding a drop of shampoo, swirl the brushes in the water and in the palm of your hand.
Rinse under running water until all the shampoo is rinsed and dry on a cloth.
For sponges first put them under running water so the powder and make-up can seep out then wash in shampoo water and rinse out then hang on washing line to dry.
That’s not hard so do it, preferably today because it’s a Sunday and you need your tools to sry.
Chipped nail polish is terrible, it looks terrible and just well looks terrible but below is what to do when you run out of nail polish remover.
Just apply a clear top coat to the nail and remove it promptly with a cotton ball if you don’t have a clear top, just swipe an extra coat of colour on top and you might be good to go.
How to find the perfect foundation when there are no qualified beauticians in sight?
Dab the foundation on the skin near your jaw line in as much natural light as possible so that the colour you choose for your face is not much different from the natural shade of your skin.
This will stop you looking like your face was just pasted onto your body.
Shave your face, legs, or underarms after splashing with warm water for a few minutes as this helps open up your hair follicles and softens your hair so that it’s less coarse to shave.
Soften skin before tweezing by dabbing your eye brows with a cotton bowl soaked in warm water or some lotion or conditioner wipe off then tweeze.
Always ensure that you tweeze in the direction the hair grows so that you don’t mess with your growth or cut yourself.
You only have one pair of eyes so treat the eye area gently it’s the most delicate part of your face. Cleanse with care if you must do anything then blot DON’T rub.
To reduce puffy eyes splash with cold water or use a cold compress (ice cubes in a washcloth): apply it for 15 seconds on, take it off, and repeat just like that.
Apply moisturiser and foundation before your apply eye shadow in order to set it so it sits.
To prevent pencil eyeliner from smudging, apply powder shadow (in a matching or slightly darker shade) over the pencil and draw as always.
Switch to brown mascara for a softer look for day and if you must use it to line your eyebrow line it looks more natural than brown.
Never ever squeeze your pimples as this causes scarring and damages tissue.
Freshen make-up by pressing a tissue or facial wipes on your oily areas such as your forehead, forehead, nose, and chin and then add on a thin layer with a brush.
Concentrate blush on the apple of cheeks, the part that puffs out when you smile so smile as you apply it, then blend it far out on the cheekbone; circles just don’t look good.
For soft luscious kissable lips, brush your lips softly with a your tooth brush and always apply lip balm or Vaseline at night to keep them moisturised.
To make lipstick last longer apply a coat let it sit for a few minutes then blot lips with tissue, dust them with powder and apply another coat.
Smile when applying lipstick it is the best way to ensure complete coverage in your corners as well.
The best time to apply lotion is right after a shower or bath, when skin is still damp because water is the best moisturiser; lotion and glycerine just seal it in.
Make perfume last longer by dabbing petroleum jelly (Vaseline) onto pulse points before spraying because it evaporates faster from dry skin.
Relieve swollen feet by soaking them alternately in hot water (for 3 minutes), then cold water (for one minute), for a total of 15 minutes.
That’s it, let me know if you have any beauty hacks we can use. Next week I am doing a write-up on my 30 Day Challenge which am glad to announce ended this week.
