TWO pedestrians died on the spot in two separate road traffic accidents in Lufwanyama and Kitwe yesterday.
Copperbelt Police commissioner Joyce Kasosa confirmed the accidents in Ndola She said a nine-year -old girl, Annie Mugala, died on the spot after she was hit by a Toyota Hilux Surf registration number ACL 8372 in Lufwanyama District.
Ms Kasosa said the incident happened when the driver of the vehicle Christopher Bwembya, who was moving from East to West along Kalengwa road lost control and hit Mugala who was moving on the right side of the road.
She said Mugala sustained cuts on the knee,  right side of the stomach and died on the spot. Her body is lying in Lufwanyama District Hospital mortuary awaiting postmortem.
Ms Kasosa said the other accident in Kitwe happened when a Toyota registration number ADC 2385, driven by Wilfred Bwembya aged 19, hit an unknown pedestrian, a man.  He sustained fractured limbs and died on the spot.
She said his body was at Kitwe Central Hospital mortuary awaiting identification.  She advised motorists to respect other road users.
The two drivers are in police custody helping with investigations.
