Funds stall Nkrumah works

NKRUMAH University Principal Rachael Kabeta has urged Deputy Secretary to Cabinet Peter Kasanda to intervene in hostels and other infrastructure construction works which have stalled at the  learning institution.
Ms Kabeta said there was a lot of pressure on accommodation and that there was need to complete the hostels whose works are almost complete.
Ms  Kabeta was speaking  when Dr  Kasanda was touring  projects in Central Province, Central Province  Permanent Secretary Edwidge  Mutale accompanied him at the university.
She said the university urgently needed funds to complete the works and asked Dr Kasanda to help address the accommodation challenges.
He said the works which  started in 2009 were expected to be completed in 2011 but  stalled due to lack of funds.
Dr Kasanda said that there was need to find  money to save the facilities from being vandalised.
Among the fa-ilities under construction include a theatre, library, lecturer block, two hostels while construction of 10 lecturers houses were also underway.
