UBA targets to reach 12,000 clients this year

THE United Bank for Africa (UBA) has projected to double its clientele to 12,000 from 6,000 this year as a result of the various electronic banking platform embarked on.
UBA Zambia Stanley Ugwueze said the bank would be hitting the Zambian market with various e-banking platforms which would see the bank increase its customer base.
Mr Ugwueze said the bank had introduced the Africard which was the VISA enabled card that was not linked to an account and must be pre-funded before using it.
Mr Ugwueze said it was important that the Small and Meduim Enterprises (SMEs), farmers, students and all those involved in cash transactions to utilise the Africard.
In an interview in Lusaka yesterday, Mr Ugwueze said this would help in reducing the cost of doing businesses.
Mr Ugwueze said another exciting e-banking product embarked on by the bank was called the U-Pay which was the web based payment solution that enables electronic payment to any third party.
“This will enable our customers to move money from the customers UBA account and pay into accounts with any bank.
“This will eliminate the writing of cheques and gives instant value to beneficiaries,” he said.
“We have also introduced a web based collection solution that enables the collection or payment on behalf of the Government or corporate customers through the use of Bank Collect,” Mr Ugwueze said.
He said this would help to eliminate fraud from cash collections and customers are free to walk into any UBA branch and make payment.
Mr Ugwueze said they would be no cash handling costs as payments are made electronically.
He said UBA was happy to announce that it would soon be introducing the POS at all retail outlets, enabling all VISA card holders to swipe and get a receipt for every transactions.
Apart from that, the bank would be providing the school online which would be an online educational portal that provides a comprehensive technology based school and management solutions for tertiary institutions.
“The UBA U-Collect would enable you accept payments for goods and services on the web via UBA payment gateway,” Mr Ugwueze said.
