12 illegal immigrants nabbed in Kitwe

THE Immigration Department has arrested 12 foreigners in Kitwe for illegally staying in the country.
The 12 were arrested in an operation undertaken by the department on Saturday night.
Immigration Department public relations officer, Namati Nshinka said in an interview at the Zambia International Trade Fair (ZITF) yesterday that one Malian was nabbed in Parklands residential area after he failed to produce documentation for being in the country.
Mr Nshinka said four Tanzanian men were arrested on Diamond Drive of which two did not have documentation.
The other two had documentation but were arrested for harbouring the others that did not have documentation.
Three men and one woman from the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) were arrested in Kawama Township.
Mr Nshinka said three other women were arrested after they were suspected of being foreigners in Nkandabwe Township but their nationalities are yet to be established.
“We want to warn the public that they should know that while everybody else is relaxing
during this long weekend, the Immigration Department is working to ensure that any immigration abrogators are brought to book,” he said.
