TOWERING striker Festus Mbewe has said he hopes to play a big part in Nkana’s forthcoming two home Group B games in the 2014 CAF Confederation Cup.
Mbewe made a bright start for Nkana with a goal at the weekend in his first match back after his six month stint at Golden Arrows in South Africa.
The striker said in an interview in Kitwe that he was hoping to score more goals in Nkana’s quest to successfully defend their league title.
“I am looking forward to the continental games as you can see we haven’t done well, we are last on the log in the group stage,” Mbewe said.
“We have two home games to our advantage now and we are looking forward to picking up points from them.”
Nkana are currently bottom of Group B with one point ahead of their July 26 game against Etoile du Sahel of Tunisia.
They will follow up that will another Kitwe date against Al Ahly of Egypt on August 9.
Mbewe opened his Nkana account this season on Saturday with the first goal in a 3-1 home win over Konkola Mine Police in Kitwe.
“I feel good that I am playing, I feel good that I have now been cleared to help the team as you can see that my team mates have gone abroad which is a great development,” Mbewe said.
“Evans Kangwa and Bruce Musakanya have gone abroad least I have come back to fill up that gap.”
