FOUR political parties are bubbling with confidence of scooping the Vubwi and Kasenengwa parliamentary by-election slated for September 11, this year in Eastern Province.
The Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) has set September 11, 2014 as the date for the Solwezi Central, Vubwi, Kasenengwa, Mkushi South and Zambezi West Parliamentary by elections.
United Party for National Development (UPND) Eastern Province chairperson Paul Thole said his party was ready to win the by-elections.
Mr Thole said in Chipata yesterday that the opposition political party was geared for the two parliamentary by-elections which would take place in the province because it had learnt from past mistakes in the elections.
Mr Thole said his party was currently mobilising the party in readiness for the by-elections.
“We have already received applications from various applicants who want be considered for adoption in Kasenengwa and Vubwi and of course we have learnt about the past mistakes and we have worked on them,” he said.
He said coming second in the Nsefu Ward by-election in Malambo Constituency was a sign that the opposition political party was enjoying massive support from people in the province.
Provincial Patriotic Front (PF) chairperson Atanny Mwamba said the ruling party would highlight the developmental projects it had implemented in the province since assuming office in 2011.
Mr Mwamba said the PF Government had done a lot of projects, adding that it was a sign that the party was ready to scoop the two seats in the province.
UNIP provincial chairperson Donald Sakala said his party had all the muscles to scoop the by-elections.
Mr Sakala said UNIP was going to surprise everyone in the forthcoming parliamentary polls.
MMD provincial chairperson Alexander Miti also expressed confidence that the party a good chance of reclaiming the two parliamentary seats.
