Letters to the Editor -LogoTHE speed of Zambia Railways’ trains is a source of concern for everyone who is contemplating to use railway transport.
Currently, the speed is at 20km/hour which is extremely low considering the speed of trade in the modern world.
However, in my conversation with the Zambia Railways staff at the just ended Zambia International Trade Fair Show, I was thrilled to learn that one of the main goals (which I amateurishly attempted to capture when I was taking this picture) of the company is to increase the speed of the train to 70km/hour by the year 2015.
This will surely make railway transport compete favourably with other forms of transport, thereby woo many businesses to consider it as priority mode of transport.
But also with increased speed, the investment will, in return, pay back speedily. We commend the president’s determination to revitalise this sector which completely collapsed in the past because of lack of vision and drive.

Hungry for success,

MANY many people in society today are hungry for success as their conduct tends to delay their achievements.
Many youths, for example, have cut short their career advancement because of mismanaging their relationships with people who are in a posititon to help them.
Artistes, footballers, writers, diskey jockeys, performers, music producers, managers, business persons, for example, in the making have regrettably either ended or disturbed their career growth.
But this should not be so! It is for this reason that I have come up with this article to help my fellow youths not to be drunk with potential.

Helping youths realise their dreams

THOSE in leadership must always strive to help the youth to realise their full potential.
There are some leaders who after being voted into office they forget about those who helped them to reach where they are now.
People who envisage becoming leaders need to be strategic thinkers, have confidence, commitment to excellence, willingness to groom others to take up leadership roles.
All those in leadership positions must start taking care of the interests of the youth because youths are the leaders of tomorrow or is it today.
I was happy to watch and listen on ZNBC news of some youths who are planning and working towards contesting parliamentary seats in 2016 general elections.
We need stiff competition so that we can have the cream of leaders in Parliament. I, therefore, wish to encourage all those aspiring not to unwind.
We don’t want leaders who go to parliament to just go and drink tea and doze.
Let me be quick to mention that they are some leaders who are really approachable and helpful like the District Commissioner for Kabwe Patrick Chishala who accommodates everyone.
Mr Chishala keep up the good spirit of doing a good job. Even at Parliamentary level we have some members of Parliament who are hard-working.
Not forgetting at national level where we have a hard working revolutionary leader, President Michael Sata who just in less than three years in office has managed to bring about massive development in roads, schools, health centres and energy infrastructure among others.
President Sata, during the Cabinet meeting held on July 14,  2014, indicated that the Government would soon connect all rural areas to the national grid to foster development.
No doubt many well-meaning Zambians are appreciating the work PF is doing and come 2016 it will be PF nafuti!
