By JAMES KUNDA –

FOUNDATION for Democratic Process (FODEP) has urged political parties contesting the 2016 general elections to share mature promises with the electorate to avoid misinterpretation.
FODEP executive director, McDonald Chipenzi said as the politicians entered the campaign trail, they should inform the electorate of what projects would be sincerely implemented to spur economic growth.
Mr Chipenzi was speaking in Ndola yesterday during a workshop organised by FODEP on increased accountability and dialogue on political party manifesto fulfillment and development in Zambia.
“The caution is to politicians who hit the campaign trail to be realistic when they meet the electorate and make promises.
“It must be clearly stated, which projects are achievable according to the capacity of Government at that time,” he said.
Mr Chipenzi also stressed the need for the civil society to constantly evaluate themselves, as they provide checks and balances to the Government of the day.
