THE National Council for Construction (NCC) will introduce an e-learning platform for construction courses by the end of the year in line with changing technological trends.

NCC public relations officer Chama Mwansa said the council had introduced construction courses which were less labour intensive and would now focus on mechanisation.

“We have introduced courses which are less labour-based and we are now moving towards mechanisation and we shall be introducing e-learning platform for some of the courses by the end of this year, making our training opportunity more accessible to everyone,” Ms Mwansa said.

Speaking at the just-ended 88th Agricultural and Commercial Show in Lusaka whose theme was ‘Breaking New Grounds’ Ms Mwansa said as Zambia celebrates its 50th anniversary, the council stand ready to introduce innovative on -line platform that would help contribute to country’s sustainable development.

She said the NCC had also introduced an online registration for contractors thereby enhancing the service delivery.

“We have embarked on online registration and you may wish to know that we have never had online registration before. With this in place, you don’t have to actually come physically to our offices to register as this can be done from the comfort of your offices,” Ms Mwansa said.

She said the council had registered 3,993 contractors as at July 15, 2014, saying the industry in general was performing fairly well.

“Generally, the industry has been performing fairly well and we don’t have any major issues with the contractors,” Ms Mwansa said.
