TWO soldiers and a civilian have been sentenced to six months imprisonment with hard labour for assaulting a Kabwe business executive.
Kabwe Principal Resident Magistrate, John Mbuzi, sentenced the trio after they pleaded guilty.
Steward Mwiya, Brian Njovu both soldiers at Kabwe’s Chindwin barracks and George Namalongo whilst acting together assaulted Kennedy Chishala.
Particulars of the offence are that the three on November 28, 2013 assaulted Mr Chishala.
The fourth accused person, Alden Namalongo denied the charge was currently appearing in court.
Initially the four were also alleged to have assaulted Michael Mulenga who later withdrew the case.
One of the three convicts while driving a vehicle reversed into Mr Chishala’s vehicle which was parked.
When Mr Chishala approached the convicts, they started beating him up.
But when they appeared in court, the three pleaded guilty to the assault charge before Mr Mbuzi and that they had no justification for their actions while the fourth person who is also a soldier denied the charge.
Trial continues in respect to the fourth accused.
