Son beats dad (82) to death

AN EIGHTY-TWO-YEAR-OLD man of Kazungula District died at the weekend after being beaten to death by his son who is on the run.
Goliath Sianyama, of Siangoye Village in Chief Musokotwane’s area, who sustained a broken skull, bruises on both hands and elbows, died at his home.
His son, Gevas Sianyama, 28, of the same village, bolted after he allegedly beat his father to death using an unknown object.
Southern Province Police chief Mary Chikwanda confirmed the incidence which happened on Friday, last week around 20:00 hours.
Ms Chikwanda said in an interview that Gevas allegedly beat his father for unknown reasons and that Police have instituted investigations into the matter.
“The incident happened around 20:00 hours on Friday in which the old man died after suffering a broken skull, bruises on both hands and elbows after he was beaten by his son,” she said.
She said, the murder case was reported to the Police by the deceased’s cousin, Nelson Nagutwe of the same Village.
Ms Chikwanda said the body of the deceased was lying in Zimba District Mission Hospital awaiting post-mortem and burial.
In another incidence, a woman aged 24, of Mazabuka District has been found dead in a suspected murder case.
Ms Chikwanda said, Misozi Mvula was found dead at her home in Manyunyu Settlement area in unclear circumstance.
She said the suspected murder of Ms Mvula, occurred between August 14 and 15, this year, and that her body was intact.
She said the matter was reported to Police by the deceased’s uncle, Kaoma Mwansa, 52, of Zamclay Township in Mazabuka.
Meanwhile, Unknown people have brutally attacked and killed a 32-year-old woman of Chingola.
The assailants are believed to have used an unknown object to beat the woman who sustained a swollen eye and head injuries before she was left for dead.
Copperbelt Police chief Joyce Kasosa confirmed the brutal attack of the woman which happened between Saturday and Sunday morning and named the deceased as Esnart Chungu of 114, Mwata Road, Kapisha Township.
Ms Kasosa said the deceased was attacked in Nkoko area within Kapisha, where she was found bleeding from the nose and had sustained a swollen eye and head injuries.
‘‘The assailants used an unknown object to beat the deceased and she died upon arrival at Kabundi Clinic,’’ Ms Kasosa said.
She said no arrests had been made but that police had launched investigations in the murder of the woman.
