ZCU scouts for K35,000

THE Zambia Cricket Union (ZCU) is scouting for K35, 000 ahead of the Pepsi International Cricket Council (ICC) Africa Division Two T20 tournament to be held in Benoni, South Africa from September 2- to 26.
ZCU president Reuben Chama said the union had already paid US$ 5, 000 (about K30, 500) participation fee but was remaining with K25, 000 meant to buy the players playing kit and K10, 000 for camping.
Chama called upon the Sports Council of Zambia (SCZ) and the corporate world to come on board and help the union raise the funds for the tournament that will see Zambia competing with six other nations for a place in the Division One.
“We have yet another important competition that comes after we successfully staged the ICC Africa Under-19 tournament in Lusaka. We are appealing to well wishers to come to our aid and raise the required amount ,” he said.
Nigeria, Seychelles, Ghana, Swaziland and Mozambique are the other countries that will take part in the competition adding that the ICC will pay for Zambia’s expenses related to airfares and accommodation for the 16 travelling
Zambia will kick off her campaign against Mozambique on September 20 before playing Seychelles the same day then play Swaziland the following day whiles the matches against Ghana and Nigeria have been set for September 22.
