THE ongoing infrastructure development projects in Northern Province have elated the Bemba Royal Establishment (BRE).
Establishment spokesperson Washanga Impika Shalubemba told journalists in an interview in Chitimukulu area on Friday that road works going on in the Northern Province were a good development.

Mr Washanga said the Establishment had plans of erecting a lower primary school to encompass a nursery school nearby so as to prevent children as young as six years from walking long distances and avoiding the risk of them drowning while crossing streams or rivers to get to the nearest school.

In another development, the Establishment is also happy with the way the maize marketing season was progressing except for delays by the Food Reserve Agency (FRA) to pay farmers as well the shortage of empty grain bags.

The Establishment representatives later met Malole Member of Parliament Christopher Yaluma at Chitimukulu Police Post.
The meeting lasted about 45 minutes where they presented Mr Yaluma with a list of requests needing attention such as construction of bridges, a market, electrification, water and help in the maintenance of a canter truck which child rights activist Kelvin Sampa donated to the BRE recently, among other things.

Mr Yaluma promised to look into the concerns brought out besides assuring Government’s commitment to develop Ukusefya pa ng’wena arena and tarring the road leading to the same place by linking it with the Chitimukulu Road.
