Wanderers 1 Mining 0
‘MIGHTY’ Mufulira Wanderers bounced back to the summit of the FAZ Division One North League table with a narrow win over Mining Rangers as leadership continued to exchange hands with last week’s leaders, Chambishi dropping into fourth place. The Week 23 fixture played at Shinde Stadium in Mufulira saw Erick Chibuye score the only goal of the game to inspire Wanderers to victory, as Chambishi missed an opportunity to consolidate leadership after succumbing to a 1-0 defeat at Lumwana.
Wanderers left it late with Chibuye powering home the match winner three minutes from time, much to the delight of home fans as their side moved to 41 points while Rangers remained stuck on 29 points and 11th on the log.
Forest 1 Premium 0
Striker Green Mumba scored an all important goal as Forest Rangers edged Premium Sports at Dola Hill Stadium to keep up the pressure on leaders Wanderers as the two teams are level on points but the  Ndola team dropped into second owing to an inferior goal difference.
Kalulushi Modern Stars beat Chindwin Sentries 2-1 in Kabwe to remain in hunt for promotion to move within a point of leaders.
Other games saw FQM add more woes to bottom placed Grinaker, handing them a 4-0 thumping as Mufulira Blackpool beat Nkwiza 3-1. Lime Hotspurs boosted the chances of survival thanks to a 2-0 win over an inconsistent Kitwe United, a win that lifted the Ndola side above relegation waters. Kansanshi beat Gomes with an identical score line with the match between Zesco Luapula and Ndola United ended goalless.
Nkwazi 2 City 1
In the southern zone, Nkwazi moved back into the driving seat of the FAZ Division One south league following a win over town rivals City of Lusaka to go top in what was a low scoring weekend.
Coupled with losses by the two rivals above them, Nkwazi jumped to 46 points, one better than second placed Lusaka Dynamos and two points away from third placed Luena Buffaloes.
Dynamos suffered a narrow 1-0 defeat to Paramilitary, who moved up to 38 points while Luena were given a 2-1 beating away to Prison Leopards.
Other matches saw Lusaka Tigers give Matero fans joy after winning their first match in six games to beat Mazabuka United 2-0 thanks to goals from Newton Muma and Kanengo Kasepo to move their side up ninth position with 31 points.
Riflemen took a 3-0 win off Lusaka City Council (LCC) while Kafue Celtics beat stubborn Zesco Shockers 1-0 and the result was identical in Livingstone Pirates win over Zamcoal Diggers. There were draws recorded in games involving Young Stars and Nampundwe United which ended 1-all while it was goalless between Zesco Malaiti Rangers and Petauke United. (See tables on Page 19)
