By MOSES CHIMFWEMBE –
COACH Ngosa Chongo has attributed Zambia’s elimination from the team events at the ongoing Badminton Confederation of Africa (BCA) Under-15 Africa Championship to lack of exposure.
Zambia was eliminated from the team event after losing its four games but Chongo remained optimistic that the team will deliver and make amends for their exit.
Chongo said in an interview from Kampala yesterday ahead of the individual events that the team’s elimination from the competition was due to lack of international exposure.
“The team played well but they lacked exposure especially the girls because it’s their first time to participate in such a tournament. I think their poor showing was also compounded by the fact that we arrived late for the competition but the individual event will different and we are geared for the battle,” he said.
Chongo said Zambian players have the potential to win medals in the individual events.
“Having missed out on medals in the team event, the players are geared to put in their best and I think we will not come back home empty handed,” Chongo said.
