With Jack  Mwewa –

YOUR regular writer of this column is resting, I have been introduced in his position for now.
ONE time Chipolopolo hot shot striker Collins Mbesuma cannot stop scoring; his goal at his South Africa’s Mpumalanga Black Aces on his debut last week confirms craving for goals.
National team coach Hounor Janza may have to give Mbesuma another chance in a bid to build and blend his team with the young and old.
German, eventual winners of the 2014 World cup was said to have largely accomplished that feat with the help of experienced players.
Much as Chipolopolo has been identifying fresh talents to carry over the mantle and maintain the team’s cherished glory, experienced players too have to be part of the game plan.
Talk about experience, then the name of Mbesuma at 30, automatically pops up, like the Miroslav Klose, aged 36 of the German team, his presence would be a fulfillment of what the younger players lack.
Experience, being the best teacher, Mbesuma’s enormous exposure in the western world league puts him in a position where he could appropriately add value to a team with budding talent.
History has it that when everyone thought some once-upon- a-time best players seemed to have lost steam, experience propelled them to spring up in another style.
The 35 goals Mbesuma scored in the 2005 South Africa’s Premier League (PSL) and his other contributions when tore tougher opponents, attests to what he is capable of replicating, given another chance.
If some of our national team players ply their trade in the PSL where Mbesuma is still valued, he too remains a valuable asset to the team.
Like the old cliché goes that while the new broom sweeps better, the old one knows all the corners of the house, in moments when any set game plan fails to yield goals, experienced strikers would nip in that vital goal. – jackmwewa@gmail.com
