THE Bowling national team will today leave for Botswana ahead of the 2014 African States Tournament (AST) which starts on Saturday in Jwaneng and ends on September 13.
Zambia Bowling Association (ZBA) president Chali Chilombo said in an interview yesterday that the association had managed to raise funds needed to facilitate the team’s travel.
Chilombo paid tribute to the Sports Council of Zambia (SCZ) for providing a bus to transport the 12-member Zambia delegation to Botswana.
“Despite the challenges that we faced, we have managed to raise funds for fuel and other logistics.
The Sports Council of Zambia provided the team with a bus which lessened the expenses of transport for the association,” Chilombo said.
He declared the team ready for the tournament saying they had prepared adequately to produce positive results.
“The team has prepared adequately for this tournament and is eager to meet their opponent without fear,” he said.
The women team which includes Eddah Mpezeni, Evelyn Namutowe, Gertrude Siame, Sophie Matipa and Matimba will be managed by Fanny Zulu.
Bright Mwanza, Harry Musonda, Christie Kapata, Alec Barkley and Darlyson Mweetwa make up the men’s team.
