By JULIUS PHIRI –

VICE-President Guy Scott has asked the people of Kasenengwa to vote for Patriotic Front (PF) candidate Gideon Zulu in the forthcoming parliamentary by-election slated for September 11, this year.
Dr Scott said Mr Zulu had the capacity, once elected into office, to attend to various challenges facing the people in Kasenengwa Constituency because he would have access to President Michael Sata.
The Vice-President said at a rally to drum up support for Mr Zulu in Kasenengwa yesterday that he would be glad if the people of Kasenengwa rose to the occasion and voted for Mr Zulu who had a traceable record.
He said when the PF was voted into Government in 2011, only provinces such as Copperbelt, Luapula, Lusaka, Northern and Central supported the party and that this time that the people of Eastern
Province should also rally behind the PF and sail in the boat.
Dr Scott said the PF Government was solving problems inherited from MMD in 2011 when it came into power and that better things were yet to come.
“The PF party which is now in control of power is there for you and I am urging every one of you from here in Kasenengwa to vote for Gideon Zulu who is your rightful candidate,” he said.
The Vice-President said Government was working on various roads across the country to improve the road network.
He said the people of Kasenengwa needed an MP from the ruling party and urged them not be swayed by voting for an opposition candidate during the by-election.
Dr Scott said the PF would let the numerous developmental projects it had fostered, to convince the electorate in voting it back into power in 2016.
Dr Scott also directed Agriculture Minister Wylbur Simuusa to ensure that the Food Reserve Agency (FRA) to urgently pay farmers who had sold their maize to the agency.
He also advised the farmers against smuggling their maize to Malawi.
Speaking at the same meeting, Mr Zulu pledged to foster development once elected.
