THE Bare Feet Festival last Friday reached its crescendo with performances from Zimbabwe’s Zimboita and local gospel ace Pompi offloading some of the best tunes on the night.
The young and talented Zimboita was the darling of the crowd that descended on Lusaka’s Civic Centre to wrap up the shows which kick started from 20-30 August.
Zimboita, captivated his fans with a good number of tracks that he unleashed while asking them to sing along.
Backed by a live band, the music wizard from Zimbabwe could once in a while ask the crowd: “when I say love, say love after me as well”, Zimboita urged his adoring fans.
Prior to Zimboita taking to the podium, gospel award winner Pompi charmed his fans with tracks such as Pompi for president which sent the crowd in a frenzy.
Supported by two female and a male vocalist ,the Nzelu mu packaging singer did not disappoint as he wowed the patrons who besieged the civic centre.
Patrons could be seen wriggling their waists an indication that they were enjoying the melodies which were churned out on the night.
By the time Pompi was taking a breather from the stage, a horde of his female fans mobbed him to take some pictures with him.
Now saving the best for last, the real climax of the show was when the award winning Freshly Grounds seized the stage with easy on the ear music.
The South African band was on point with spell binding music that saw almost everyone shaking up bodies in sure enjoyment and appreciation especially that they did a “Zimbabwe” track by the late legendary reggae king Bob Nester Marley.
The Freshly Grounds music was simply captivating such that those that had intentions of leaving after listening to one or two song from them were seen up to the very end of the show.
