SOME parts of the country yesterday experienced a three hour power outage due to a network system disturbance on the 330 kilovolts Kabwe substation.
The affected areas included Copperbelt, North-Western, Northern, Luapula, Muchinga and Eastern Provinces.
Zesco public relations manager Henry Kapata confirmed that the power outage was due to a fault at the Kabwe power substation.
Mr Kapata said the power outage occurred around 10:51 hours and that the power utility firm rushed to attend to the matter.
He said power was restored around 11:51 hours in all provinces except for the Copperbelt Province where it was only restored after 13:00 hours.
“Our electricians are addressing the matter. Some provinces have begun receiving power and as for the Copperbelt we are reloading the system because the province is having some difficulties,” he said
Mr Kapata said investigations have been launched to establish what caused the disturbances and apologised for any inconvenience caused.
Most business houses on the Copperbelt, including some mining industries were affected by the power outage.
