TEN world’s strongest men are in the country to compete in the 11th stage of the competition at the Lilayi Lodge in Lusaka today.
Strongman Championship League Director Marcel Mostert said at a media briefing in Lusaka yesterday said 10 of the world strongest men have arrived in the country to compete in the 11 stage of the championship.
Mostert said the World Strongmen Champion League has 16 stages and that Zambia was host the 11 for the first time. He said Zambia will be represented by Paul Mwanza, who is the Zambian strongman champion, but is not competing on the World level.
“After 16 stages of the league, a World champion will be crowd in November in Malaysia,” he said.
Defending champion Radzikowski Krzysztof from Poland said he will work hard to retain the title.
“I am currently ranked third in the league this year after I missed out on some stages because I was hospitalised due to injury that saw me tore my triceps muscle,” he said.
Current league leader Martin Wildauer from Austria said the competition will be tough but will put in his best to emerge winner.
“I have to be really strong and tough for me to keep the yellow leaders shirt especially now that the champion is back,” he said.
Others participants include Katona Ervin from Serbia, Tristen Brian from South Africa, Alex Moonen from Netherlands, Dainis Zageris from Latvia, Marc Van der Haer from South Africa and Frikkie Page from South Africa.
